Andrea Bonacorsi and Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing took a podium position at the Dutch MX Season Opener at Lierop. Bonacorsi finished second in both motos, which gave him second position overall as well. Ivano van Erp did a great job as well by finishing in sixth position in both motos.

The speed in practice was high but it was clear that the track became more heavy as the day progressed. Van Erp and Bonacorsi were doing several fast laps and were ending the session in fourth and fifth position.

In the opening moto it was van Erp who took a really good start. He came out of the first turn in second position and was riding in this position in the beginning of the moto. During the race he lost a few positions and finally finished the race in sixth position. Bonacorsi came out of the first lap in sixth position but worked his way back up inside of the top three and after a few laps he took over second position. Bonacorsi was riding a consistent race and finished in a strong second position.

In the second moto it was Bonacorsi who took the best start from both riders and came out of the first lap in second position. Due to a crash of the leader he took over the lead and was leading for a few laps. In the following laps he lost the lead to Kay de Wolf and Jago Geerts and dropped back to third. Bonacorsi kept pushing and moved back into second in the final lap and finished the race in this position. Van Erp started the race in fourth position but dropped back to sixth after a few laps and finished the race in this position.

Bonacorsi finished second overall and Van Erp ended up in sixth position. The next race for Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing is the opening round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Harfsen on the 19th of March.
