Andrea Bonacorsi of Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing had a strong showing during the final round of the ADAC Youngster Cup 250 in Reutlingen. Bonacorsi won the first heat, and crossed the line in second position in the second race. Unfortunately a small mechanical problem in the third moto forced him to retire from the race which cost him the overall win!

Bonacorsi’s summer break had clearly done him well, and he posted the fastest qualifying time in his group. Teammate Dave Kooiker qualified ninth in his group.

Bonacorsi was in fine fettle during the first race, winning comfortably, and laying the basis for a potential good overall result. Dave Kooiker narrowly missed the top ten and finished 11th. Both riders were in strong form during the second heat as well.  Bonacorsi narrowly missed the victory, and finished second. Kooiker improved in his first heat result and finished eighth.

The team suffered a setback in the final race. Bonacorsi was forced to the side with a mechanical problem, which saw all chances of an overall victory go up in smoke. He finished fifth overall. Kooiker had another strong showing with 11th, earning him ninth overall for the event.

The EMX250 championship series continues on 2 October at Teutschenthal, and the team is in full preparation for that.
