Rick Elzinga of the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory team finished second in the first round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross 250 in Harfsen. Elzinga was in the lead for a long time in the first moto and finished second. In the second moto he crossed the finish line in third place.

Due to the large turnout, the riders were split in two groups for practice. Elzinga was in the first group and immediately had a good rhythm on the track. This ensured that he managed to set the fastest time in his group and finished the training satisfactorily.

In the first moto, Elzinga got a very good start and was able to start the race in the leading group. Soon he managed to move up to the lead and managed to hold on for a long time. However, Elzinga was still suffering from jet lag due to the long journey back from Argentina and started to feel this in the second part of the race. Elzinga was therefore unable to hold on to the lead and finished second.

Also in the second moto Elzinga managed to get a good start and was able to start at the front again. He took the lead in the race but again he lacked the strength to get away. During the race, he fell back to third place and followed the two leaders. Elzinga didn’t have the strength to go on the attack again in the closing stages and therefore finished third.

With a 2-3 in the motos, Elzinga finished in second place in the day’s classification. This weekend, the second round of the MX2 world championship is scheduled for Elzinga in Arroyomolinos, Spain.
