Dave Kooiker of Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing had some good speed on display during the first of three EMX125 motocross rounds at Faenza in Italy. Alas, crashes on both heats kept him from scoring on the hardpack track.

Dave tried his best during qualifying, and went away with the 27th gate pick. He still managed a good start in race one and found himself in the top ten.  He held this position well, until a heavy crash dropped him way out of the points.

Dave chose a similar gate for the second race, and again he launched well. Again a crash, whilst riding in eighth position ruined his chances of a good result. He rode out the race, but sadly for him, again without troubling the scorers.

This was Dave’s first big race after his heavy injury. He took the positives from having demonstrated points scoring speed, and will try and convert this into points during the next two rounds at the same venue.
