The Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing team continued its preparation for the upcoming EMX250 championship with an outing to Crisolles in France. The track hosted an international event with a strong field of GP-level competitors. The track is hardpack, with technical jumps and a high average speed. Andrea Bonacorsi and Dave Kooiker had a proper challenge ahead of them, not least because they were mounted on their 250cc machines against a field that consisted mainly of 450cc – mounted riders.
It was clear from the very outset that the pace was hot here. The team riders made countless attempts to clock a fast lap, and Andrea ended up 12th fastest, with Dave securing 24th spot. Both riders launched well in race one, hovering just outside the top ten despite the high level of competition, Andrea maintained his pace and finished 12th, the fifth MX2 rider across the line. Dave had some problems with armpump and finished in 24th spot, which he was disappointed with.
Andrea’s bike stalled at the start of race two, and he got away stone last. He expended every effort to move forward, and was rewarded with 15th position at the fall of the flag. Dave again had trouble finding his rhythm and finished 27th.
The team will continue its intense preparations for the kick-off of the EMX250 series, which is scheduled for the end of June in England.
