Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing scored a fourth place finish at the opening round of the EMX250 motocross European championships at Valkenswaard in The Netherlands. Benistant crashed twice in the first heat, but still managed to work his way forward to 11th, and in the second race, he set matters straight by finishing second.

“It was not exactly the weekend I had envisioned, but it was not bad, either. My two crashes in the first race dropped me back to 33rd spot, but with good speed I still managed to get up to 11th. In the second heat I started in eighth. I felt good, and bided my time to get back up to second,” he said.

GIanluca Faccchetti finished sixth in the first race after a good start. He settled just inside the top ten in race two, but a heavy crash cost him a lot of time and he eventually did not score points in that race.

“The weekend started well for me with the fastest lap time, the track was heavy and treacherous after the rain from the previous days. I had a good start in race one, and even had the lead for a while. I lost some places after a crash, and could not regain my rhythm. Despite this, I managed to hold onto sixth. In the second race, I had a bad start, and worked my way up to tenth. Then I crashed hard, and lost too much time to work my way back into the points,” Gianluca said.

The next round of the EMX250 Championship is in Agueda, Portugal on the 25th and 26th of April.
