Andrea Bonacorsi and Dave Kooiker of Hutten Metaal Yamaha Racing finished first and second respectively during the Open Dutch Championship 250 season opener at Arnhem. Jeremy Sydow had a troubled outing, with crashes in both races.<\/p>\n
Sydow and Bonacorsi both featured well during qualifying, with Sydow claiming the pole ahead of his teammate. Dave Kooiker struggled to find a rhythm, and qualified tenth.<\/p>\n
Sydow had a good start in race one, but crashed in the first corner, and had to retire, leaving it to his teammates to fly the flag. Bonacorsi took the lead after a few laps, and rode to victory in comfortable fashion. Kooiker worked his way up to fifth, but some struggles with armpump dropped him back a spot. He recovered the position to finish fifth.<\/p>\n
Sydow raced to a holeshot in heat two, but again crashed heavily, signaling the end to a day to forget for him. Kooiker and Bonacorsi headed up the pack, and matched each other blow for blow. Kooiker held the lead for a few laps, but his teammate eventually worked his way past and they finished in that order.<\/p>\n
Bonacorsi was crowned overall winner for the day, and despite his fifth place finish in race one, Kooiker had done enough to secure the second overall spot.<\/p>\n
The team will be in action at the opening round of the EMX250 European Championships at Matterley Basin in England next weekend.<\/p>\n
